I build a campfire by the stream and feel the 

warmth of the flames on my face.

I hear the whisper of the breeze as it rustles through

the leaves on the trees.

I hear the trickle of the water as it flows past - as time flows

to the past carrying the memory of "now" to the past.

I play my flute to the whippoorwill.

The closeness of the night and the past is near.

I play my flute and in the music the voices of my ancestors. I feel the vibration of the flute as the spirit of my ancestors touches the wood.

Once again a fallen tree speaks to me. It tells me there is music within. I start to carve the wood and soon the flute is free. 

This flute has a sound unlike any other. Each flute I carve has a voice of it's own.

Through my flute I honor my Native American Ancestors and their  history.
